Chased and shot by a laser gun…

laser gunDream: I dreamed I was running through the forest being chased by a person with a laser gun. I ran into a building covered with exercise mats. When I came out the other side a wheel of fire was rolling at me. I dodged it but the guy with the laser gun shot me and I disintegrated.

DreamsMaster: Wow, what a powerful dream! First question that comes to mind is whether or not you play a lot of video games or watch a lot of adventure movies. Or, maybe you recently engaged in a game of laser tag? If so, you may have borrowed some of these dream images from those games and movies.

What you dream about most often has something to do with what was on your mind when you went to bed. For example, since this dream has multiple themes of trying to escape from danger, think about if there’s someone or something you’ve been feeling “threatened” by in your waking life. It could even be a part of yourself (more on this later). The feelings in the dream can help point the way to the dream’s interpretation. For example, if you felt afraid in the dream, think about where in your waking life you’ve recently felt a similar sense of fear or unease.

Since each dream is unique to the dreamer and what’s going on in the dreamer’s life, only the dreamer can truly interpret their own dream. I can offer ideas about what the dream means, but ultimately it’s up to you to decide on the true meaning. That said, here are some ideas for you to consider. As you read through them, pay attention to what feels like a fit. If something feels way off base, think about why that is and what might fit better. User your imagination in the waking world just as your dreaming mind used its imagination in the sleeping world, and see what conclusions you come to.

Running through a forest: A forest is made up of trees and other untamed growth. In dreams, a forest may represent our own personal growth, both physical and mental.

Building covered with exercise mats: When I picture this, I imagine the mats laid out in such a way as to soften the impact of a fall. Since they are exercise mats, think about what “exercise” means to you. If it were my dream, I might describe exercise as a way to get stronger in body and mind.

Wheel of fire rolling at me: Fire is often symbolic of transformation. It may also represent intense anger or rage. The fact that it’s a “wheel of fire” reminds me again of adventure movies such as Indiana Jones. You dodged this danger as you’d successfully dodged danger through the forest, which shows how capable you are at dealing with challenges.

Shot by the guy and disintegrated: Other people in dreams are often extensions of ourselves. In other words, dreams are like theater – where the dreamer plays all the roles. So in this dream, though one part of you was shot and disintegrated, another part of you pulled the trigger. Looking at the dream this way, think about if there are two sides of yourself in conflict these days – maybe a more aggressive side of you that’s trying to get rid of a more passive side. Or, perhaps the growing young man that you are becoming is causing the child in you to “disintegrate.”

A single dream can have many layers of meaning. I hope my ideas have given you some ideas of your own!

Dreams about cars…

Dreams about carsDream: I often have dreams about cars. In some dreams I’m driving the car, other dreams I’m just a passenger. What does it mean to dream about cars?

DreamsMaster: A car is a means of getting from one place to another, and can represent some movement or transition in your life. It can also represent one’s sense of freedom or control. If you are driving the car, then you are feeling in control of your journey. If you are a passenger in the car, this could mean you have been giving your power over to another, and you are not in the “driver’s seat” of your life.

The feelings you have in the dream will give you a hint as to whether or not you need to take certain action in your life. For example, if you’re riding in a car and feel fear, then this could mean you’ve been giving away your personal power and need to take more control of your destiny in your waking life. But if you feel relaxed and are enjoying the ride, then the dream could be acknowledging that you’re on the right path.

Ex in jail…

Dreamed ex in jailDream: I had a dream I met my ex in jail.

DreamsMaster: Here are some ideas for you to work with…

First, is your ex in jail in the waking world, or was your ex in jail only in the dream? Also, what happened between the two of you when you met in the dream? Was it a warm reunion, or was there hostility?

If your ex actually is in jail, then dreaming of meeting there may mean that you have some unfinished business with him that’s drawing you there. How you felt in the dream may point to the nature of that unfinished business.

On the other hand, if your ex is not actually in jail, then take a look at what meeting your ex in jail might represent to you symbolically. For example, it could represent the feeling of being “caged” and lacking personal freedom in your relationship. Meeting your ex in jail could also mean that a part of you is still “imprisoned” or “locked up” in regards to old feelings for him. The feelings may be emotional attachment, or perhaps a lingering sense of guilt. If this rings true for you, the dream is likely sending the message that you need to release yourself from the past so you can move on to a more emotionally fulfilling future.

Blood spotting…

blood spottingDream: I had a dream that I was blood spotting. Can you please tell me what this dream is all about?

DreamsMaster: I’m guessing that by “blood spotting” you mean spotting in the middle of your menstrual cycle. If so, start by looking for any literal meaning. For example:

  • If you are pregnant, check with your doctor to rule out any problems with the pregnancy.
  • If you no longer have menstrual cycles and pregnancy is not a possibility, check with your doctor to rule out any gynecological concerns.

Have you been experiencing any symptoms in your waking world, such as cramping or any other type of pain in your abdomen? It’s possible your dreaming mind is pulling together clues that you’ve been dismissing during your daily life, trying to get your attention.

If the literal angle doesn’t fit, next look at what “blood spotting” may mean to you symbolically. Blood in dreams often symbolizes our life force. Along these lines, “blood spotting” could be a metaphor for losing some of your personal power or strength, either literally or figuratively.

What emotion did you experience in the dream when you became aware of the blood spotting? Were you scared, curious, detached? Does the feeling in the dream resemble any feeling you experienced in your waking world recently? Most of our dreams relate to what was on our mind when we went to sleep, so considering your thoughts and feelings ahead of the dream may provide you with more clues.

He dreamed that he killed me…

killed meDream: My boyfriend told me about his dream and I wanna know what it means… He dreamed that he killed me but he has no idea how or what he did to me. He saw me laying there dead and he was really crying and so sad. And I’ve been thinking what does it mean, made me wonder a lot.

DreamsMaster: Before I begin to offer my ideas, keep in mind that this is your boyfriend’s dream, and ultimately he’s the only one who can confirm whether or not an interpretation fits.

That said, here are some thoughts. Killing is the ultimate exercise of power. It’s not clear from your message whether your boyfriend killed you intentionally or by accident. If in the dream the killing was intentional, it may represent a sense of total dominance or internal rage. If unintentional, it could represent a fear of exercising one’s power irresponsibly or losing control. Either way, the fact that he feels intense sadness and remorse is very significant, suggesting deep internal conflict. All of this taken into consideration, here are some questions for your boyfriend to ponder…

– Is he concerned that if he lets down his guard, lets out his true self, that this could somehow destroy the relationship?

– Is there something he’s afraid of or feels guilty about, that if revealed would “kill” you metaphorically?

Killing is such a popular dream theme that there’s a special category for it on Dreams.com. Check it out if you’re interested in getting more ideas about what it might mean in this situation, and be sure to include your boyfriend in the discussion before jumping to any conclusions of your own.
