Friend shoots me…

dream metaphor, dream symbolism, broken tile, broken relationshipDream:  I serve in a pastoral position and in my dream I was helping people in a church setting. A friend shoots me twice, leaving me immobilized. I’m not worried about myself as I’m more concerned for the welfare of those entrusted to me. I’m shocked and in disbelief, more than hurt about what she has done to me. I can’t move and the same person comes and steps on my neck. I hear the cracking. I feel it carries a spiritual meaning.

DreamsMaster:  I understand why this dream is so troubling to you. If you feel it carries a spiritual meaning, then begin by trusting this intuition. Here are some ideas for you to consider.

First, I have some clarifying questions:
– Is this friend in the dream a trusted friend in your waking world? Is she also a member of your church community?
– In the dream, where does she shoot you? In the back? The chest? The stomach?
– What is your friend’s emotional state in the dream? Cold? Angry? Hysterical?
– At the beginning of the dream you’re helping people in a church setting. What type of help are you administering to them?
– After you’re shot and immobilized, you’re more worried about them than yourself. How are they at risk?

Next, let’s look at possible dream themes. These are a couple that come to me:
– Someone you thought trustworthy betrayed you.
– While giving of yourself to others, you suffer gravely.

There are a number of symbols for you to consider as well. What they mean is for you to determine, but here’s what they would mean to me if it were my dream…

– Church = community
– Friend = could represent the actual person in my life, or it could represent a part of myself that I’ve identified with that friend.
– Shoots twice = determined to end life, to hit the mark.
– Immobilized = unable to protect or defend others or myself.
– Neck = lifeline between the head and the heart.

As you’re reading through all of this, are you getting a sense of the dream’s message? Only you can determine the dream’s true meaning (and it may have several layers of meaning), but from my perspective, I think it may be a warning that by giving so much to others, you may be putting your own health and well-being at risk. That said, I’d still keep a watchful eye on that friend, in case your intuition is sensing she doesn’t necessarily have your best interest at heart.

Crash boyfriend’s truck…

SkidDream:  I’m driving my boyfriend’s truck. The brakes go out. I was gonna crash. And before I crashed, I woke up.

DreamsMaster:  Do you feel the relationship with your boyfriend is getting a bit “out of control”, like it’s going too fast and you can’t “put on the brakes” to slow it down? The dream could be enacting these metaphors.

That said, keep in mind that sometimes dreams are literal warnings. In this case, have you picked up on any clues that your boyfriend’s truck may be due for service, and perhaps requires new brakes?

Consider both angles, and then think about what you need to do to gain more control and feel less powerless in your current situation.

Wife cheating…

wife cheating, having an affairDream:   I have had this dream 3 or 4 times of my wife cheating on me.  What Is IT ????

DreamsMaster:  There are a few ways this dream can be interpreted.

1) It’s possible your inner detective (your intuition) is picking up clues that your wife is emotionally distancing herself from you and this marriage, and this intuition is playing out in your dreams as her cheating on you.

2) It’s also possible that in the back of your mind you’ve been picking up signs of her having an actual affair, and your dreaming mind is bringing it to the forefront to get you past your denial.

3) Another possibility is that the dream is not about your wife’s feelings or actions, but instead represents your own insecurity or lack of confidence and sense of control within this relationship.

Cats biting toes…

Dreams about cats, cats biting toesDream:  My sister and I are sleeping but I woke up because our cats are biting our toes. I tried to shoo away the cats but they are not going away and continued biting me.

DreamsMaster:  If the cats in your dream are your actual cats in the waking world, it’s possible the dream has more of a literal interpretation than a symbolic one. Your cats are insistent upon getting your attention, trying to stir you to action. Have you been questioning the well-being of your cats lately? Have you been tending to their needs, such as giving them plenty of water and keeping their litter box clean?

On a symbolic level, cats in dreams often represent our feminine side, and to be awaken by cats could symbolize a personal awakening to one’s femininity. Cats also symbolize intuition. In this dream, the cats are persistently biting at your toes and you’re trying to shoo them away. If it were my dream, I’d interpret this to mean that there’s resistance to accepting these developing aspects of myself. Also, since your sister is in the dream sleeping alongside you, it’s possible you recognize she’s unconscious about these developing aspects of herself as well.

In general, it appears that your dreaming mind is trying to give you a “wake-up call” to take care of some business. If it’s not literally about your cats, then think of what else in your daily life has been nagging at you, and will not go away until you give it your full attention.

Boyfriend wants to break up…

Break upDream:  My boyfriend telling me that he wants us to break up.

DreamsMaster:  There are a few ways to approach this dream.

First, did you and your boyfriend have an argument or disagreement the night before the dream? Did you go to bed having thoughts about him being unhappy, or have you been lacking confidence in the relationship? If so, the dream may have been somewhat literal, in that it was simply playing out in dream images what your waking mind was already imagining.

If things have been going fine with your boyfriend, it’s possible your subconscious mind has been picking up signs of discontent – on either his end or your own. For example, things may outwardly appear fine in the relationship, but the “inner detective” in your sleep pieced together some clues that were pointing in a different direction. Or, perhaps you have not been so into the relationship yourself lately, and your sleeping mind is trying to find a way out.

Only you can determine the true meaning of this dream. Ponder the possibilities I’ve written, and consider these questions as well:

– How did you feel in the dream when your boyfriend told you he wanted to break up?

– How did you feel when you woke up afterward? Same or different than how you felt in the dream?

If you’re still in the dark in regards to the dream’s message, each night this week before you go to sleep, tell yourself that you’d like more information about this dream, and keep a pen and paper by your bed to write down what comes.
